Komiut, a PSV management system designed to assist in decongestion of matatu terminus, analysis and monitoring of matatu timelines and online linkage of passengers to matatus, targets to provide a solution to decongest the city through a numbering system that will allow matatus enter the terminus chronologically.
Matatus will forego the long queues at pick up points as the system will allow a driver to monitor the number of vehicles within the terminus in the CBD and know when to enter the city in the chronology of number booked and bring order to the public transport sector.
Equipping the matatu operators through trainings about using the system, Komiut is giving drivers a platform to book a number for their bus at the terminus and track activities of other matatus within the pick-up point even before reaching the terminus.
Komiut developed in partnership partnership with NCBA bank t has also given passengers a platform to pay through Mobile money which will help in limiting cash handling.
Apart from an organized transport system, the partnership with NCBA Bank targets to empower the matatu industry by creating trust between the owners, driver and conductors and the SACCOs by linking payments directly to the bus owners bank accounts.
The partnership with NCBA seeks to build the capacity of matatu owners by providing free Komiut devices, training and asset finance.
